“Do not grow weary in doing good.” Galatians 6:9

Paul had to remind the church of this 2000 years ago. And it seems we have needed a constant reminder ever since. After we’ve been doing the right thing for any amount of time, if we haven’t seen the results we wanted, it’s easy for us to give up.

Over the past five months we’ve had to learn how to be the church in the midst of a pandemic. Most of the ways that we have spent our entire life sharing the love of God have been limited or erased during this season. And we’ve had to learn how to be the church with limits like social distancing, quarantine, and all the rest.

I want to tell you that you’ve done a good job. You really have. But it looks like this virus will be with us a lot longer. And we’re going to have to continue to be diligent to share the love of Christ in new and unique ways. With school starting back this month, we have more opportunities to show that love. For the kids, there is a need for the internet. A lot of kids will be going to school online rather than going to a classroom. And they will need the internet available for them to connect and do their work. Our church building will be made available to these kids. If you know of anyone with this need, let them know to contact us. Teachers and staff will need support as well. They will need reoccurring gifts of hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes.

The school is only one place in our community where we get to be the presence of Christ. And it will take all of us working together to share his love. If you have an idea for how to minister during this time, you are welcome to share your idea with the church so that everyone can join you in it. Remember, this does not mean that you ask the church to do it for you. But if it’s something you’re already doing, come and ask the church to join you. But whatever you do, don’t give up, you are making a difference. Your phone calls and cards sent to the more vulnerable population have a huge impact on them and their families. Keep it up.

“For at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.” Galatians 6:9-10
